Sansevieria. From western tropical Africa grown mostly as a houseplant, but can be grown outdoors in mild winter climates. The thick, rigidly upright patterned leaves that grow form 2 foot wide rosettes. Leaves are dark green banded with gray green grow 2 inches wide and 4 foot tall.

Whether grown indoors or out these plants tolerate many soil types, salt air and drought. Indoor plants most kinds of light and need little to moderate watering.
