Beaucarnea Recurvata
Common Name: Ponytail Palm, Bottle Palm. Family: Agavaceae. Zones: 13, 16-24; or Indoors.

The Beaucarnea Recurvata is a succulent shrub or tree. The base of the stem is greatly swollen. In young plants it resembles a big onion sitting on the soil. Its leaves cluster at the ends of its branches in dense tufts, arching and drooping. At first the trunk is single, but later becomes sparsely branched.

Beaucarnea Recurvata palms do exceptionally well as houseplants when given good light and are not over-watered. Keeping outdoors, provide sun, well-drained soil and infrequent deep watering. When moving from indoors to the outdoors exposure to the sun and low temperatures should be gradually increased.
